La Riserva di Montebello

"La Riserva Montebello" is a farmhouse hotel in the very heart of central Italy on the border of Lazio, Tuscany and Umbria regions.

The farm can offer accommodation for 50 guests. The rooms, each with its own bathroom, are set in three rural stone houses, all within a 30 hectare property of woodland, kiwi, olive plantations and stock farming.

Situated on the slopes of the hills overlooking Lake Bolsena (300 mt. over sea level) La Riserva (450 mt. over sea level) offers our visitors a breathtaking view of the lake and surrounding countryside. Particularly noteworthy is its mild climate, even throughout summer months, you'll enjoy a pleasant breeze in the morning and evening and the enchantment of endless glowing sunsets.

The food is simple: natural Italian "farmhouse cooking", based on our own local production and cooked freshly every day. The restaurant is reserved only for the guests of the farm holiday in order to keep dinner in a quiet atmosphere. Our dinner is a candle light dinner and enlightened by torches round the farm.

We organize also Cooking Lessons, with the assistance of the cook and a simultaneous translator. During the lesson the guests learn how to prepare some kind of Italian traditional pasta, roasted bread (bruschetta) or other typical dishes and they eat what they have prepared for lunch.

La Riserva Montebello offers numerous activities: 3 swimming pool, horse riding, ping-pong, tennis court, archery and sailing in the Lake of Bolsena. The Riserva lies in the heart of the ancient Etruscan area and you can reach easily all important sites like Tarquinia, Viterbo, and Tuscania etc.

Of particular interest is the enchanting Papal Island Bisentina, a tiny island situated in the middle of the lake of Bolsena.

For the guests who have not their own transport we can organize transfers from our farm holiday to Rome Fiumicino/Ciampino or Rome centre, Pisa and Perugia airports and to the station of Orvieto by a Blue Limousine Mercedes Station Wagon and by 8-seat buses (for groups of people). For the transfers inside the farm, we are very well equipped with 2 buses or Land Rovers.

Our farm holiday is located in the heart of Tuscia, a region of historical, cultural and artistically interest. We organize Sightseeing Tours in the area.

In particular we organize the Renaissance Tour including the visit of Bomarzo with the famous Park of Monsters, Villa Lante in Bagnaia with gardens, fountains and water games, Civita di Bagnoregio, “the dying town” rising on a clay rock and the Bisentina Island, real jewel in the middle of Bolsena lake and the Etruscan Tour including the visit of Bolsena (museum, archaeological area, cathedral and catacombs of Saint Christina) Tuscania (historical centre, Etruscan museums and Gothic cathedrals), Tarquinia (Etruscan museum and painted polychrome tombs. We also organize a sightseeing tour of Orvieto where you can admire the wonderful Gothic cathedral, Saint Patrice well and the underground town.

We are very near to Ovieto railway station, so that guests have the possibility to do one-day-trips to Florence or Rome to evoid car parking problems or traffic jam. It takes one our and a half to get to Florence centre and one hour to get to Rome centre.
